More than 200 guests attended to pay tribute to the county’s most exciting startups, growth companies and the business incubator UIC, Uppsala Innovation Centre, at UIC’s spring party. Among other things, two UIC Selected companies were appointed. LF Uppsala is behind the Sustainability Award, Nordea awarded their travel scholarship to two companies, Brann appoints the Technology Award and the Per Bengtsson scholarship recognized the best team.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

When UIC had their annual Spring Party and celebrated 25 years, over 200 guests from local corporates, startups, investors and other stakeholders were there to be inspired and celebrate. Representatives from Uppsala municipality, one of UIC’s owners, were there to thank and congratulate UIC. The guests celebrated UIC’s 25 years as a valuable business incubator and accelerator in the county, took part in highlights from the previous year and paid tribute to outstanding companies.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winners with the potential to make the world better<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

This year PercyRoc <\/strong>and cAIre Tech<\/strong> won the Nordea travel scholarship<\/strong>. An addition of SEK 25,000 to contribute to a trip for a clear business promotion goal. PercyRoc <\/strong>are planning a trip to Brazil to meet a new partner, a Brazilian mining company looking for a technology to make their production more sustainable \u2013 a need that PercyRoc meets with their innovative microwave technology. cAIre Tech<\/strong> is planning a trip to Las Vegas, for the annual Functional Medicine conference, where the goal is to make connections and consolidate its position in the market. cAIre Tech is developing a platform to evaluate the treatment and cause of health problems using AI.

Brann’s grand prize<\/strong> went to Rebaba<\/strong>. They reuse electric vehicle batteries to create energy storage systems, supporting the transition to renewable energy and reducing electricity costs. The solution extends the life of the batteries by integrating them into the electricity grid via modular systems that can be adjusted according to capacity and power. This promotes not only financial sustainability but also environmental sustainability through easy replacement of used batteries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

LF Uppsala’s Sustainability Award<\/strong> went to Traktorarvid<\/strong>, whose business idea fulfills the criteria to fulfill one of the goals for sustainable development in Agenda 2030 and has a clear business plan with concrete goals to contribute to a sustainable society with reduced environmental and climate impact. Traktoarvid offers a fossil-free, battery-powered and autonomous agricultural machine. In addition to taking care of themselves and reducing fuel consumption, the tractor is smaller and reduces soil compaction. Drever 120 is the first electric tractor that can be used for heavier pulling work and provides reduced energy costs, uses farm-based production of fuel and contributes to reduced soil compaction.

This year’s Per Bengtsson scholarship<\/strong> went to PapersHive<\/strong>. They are a software company that offers an AI-based search engine that provides access to medical databases, patents and clinical trials all in one place. The company’s search engine makes data searchable and helps customers structure and analyze data. They are awarded the scholarship because, through a common passion, they have built a strong, diversified and committed team as well as the ability to lead successfully for a long-term, sustainable organization.

AirForestry <\/strong>and Stardots <\/strong>were named UIC Selected<\/strong> companies, for their outstanding innovation, driven teams and strong development. AirForestry <\/strong>makes it possible to thin heavy forestry in a completely new way, from the air with the help of drones, and does not damage land and forests. Stardot’s <\/strong>business is to develop software platforms for digital biomarkers, treatment optimization and diagnosis with an initial focus on neurology and Parkinson’s disease. Both companies have for several years participated in a number of UIC’s business development programs, from Bootcamp and Startup to the Accelerator & Swedish Scaleups.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of the industry or phase the entrepreneurs are in, they share an incredible drive and willingness to innovate for a better future for all of us. I also want to give a big thank you to our partners and the ecosystem in Uppsala, which is characterized by a “pay-it-forward” culture that creates the best conditions for entrepreneurs.
